The incident occurred at around 10:30 pm when a bus heading towards Mumbai from Kolhapur overturned, apparently while negotiating a sharp gradient.
   
When other vehicles stopped to rescue the passengers trapped in the bus, a speeding container dashed into four vehicles causing a pile-up.
   
The injured persons were rushed to Khandala primary health center and some at a private hospital in Shirval, said Khandala police station inspector Shridhar Jadhav.

Ten killed as bus overturns in Khambataki ghat

         

Satara: Ten persons were killed and 30 others injured in a freak mishap involving four vehicles in Khambataki ghat section on Pune-Bangalore national highway on Monday night, police said.

         

The incident occurred at around 10:30 pm when a bus heading towards Mumbai from Kolhapur overturned, apparently while negotiating a sharp gradient.
