Jammu: Ten people were killed and two others received injuries on Saturday in a road accident in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district.

The incident took place when a Tata Sumo (JK 17 - 163), heading to Drabshalla from Sarore, skidded off the road and fell into a gorge. Nine people died on spot and three were rushed to a nearby hospital where one of them succumbed to injuries during treatment.

Injured persons were airlifted and were admitted to Government Medical College hospital in Srinagar.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced Rs one lakh each to the next of kins of those killed and Rs 10,000 to the injured persons.
