Bangalore: The optional practice session on Wednesday went without senior players Sachin Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh chose to remain absent while eight other members of India`s World Cup squad had a one hour training session.

Among the eight who featured in the training included Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni ahead of the March 6 Group B clash against Ireland.

Alongside, Sachin and Bhajji, pace spearhead Zaheer Khan, fellow fast bowler S Sreesanth, batsman Suresh Raina and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh.

Opener Virender Sehwag, who is in Delhi to consult a physiotherapist for a rib cage injury, is expected to join the squad tomorrow, sources in the team said.

India have so far played two matches in the event, winning the opening game against Bangladesh before settling for a thrilling tie against England.
