He has done a variety of roles in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films. He became rage among youth with his unique dialogue delivery skills and inimitable style of doing action scenes. His symbolic style of flipping cigarette in air and catching it with lips became his famous signature style, making him different from any other hero.

His unique mannerism is followed by most of his supporters who worship him as God. Besides receiving various felicitations, he has also received the prestigious 'Padma Bhushan', the third highest civilian award for his immense contribution to Indian cinema. Besides Tamil movie, he gave brilliant performance in few Hindi movies. 'Andha Kanoon' which was released in 1983 was a blockbuster. In 1988, Rajini made his only English film appearance in 'Bloodstone', directed by Dwight Little.

Even at the age of 63, Rajinikanth is unstoppable, as he is all set to venture out with his forthcoming movie Kochadaiiyaan. The music of much hyped film was supposed to be released on his birthday.
