Apart from becoming 2014's highest grossing foreign film at the US box office, “The Lunchbox” has raked in USD 2.7 million (and still counting), according to the box office reporting service Box Office Mojo.

Co-produced by Guneet Monga, Anurag Kashyap and Arun Rangachari, it has reportedly done more business than Bollywood movies like “English Vinglish” (USD 1.8 million), “Agneepath” (USD 1.9 Million) and “Krrish 3” (USD 2.2 million).

The story revolves around Ila who is a young middle class Mumbai housewife essayed by Nimrat Kaur.

Ila is trying to win her husband’s heart back by her cooking skills but one day, due to a rare mistake by the otherwise efficient dabbawalas of Mumbai, the lunchbox gets exchanged and a stranger named Sajan Fernandez, played by Irrfan Khan, through notes, gets the lunch regularly.
