Chandigarh: The newly constituted Third Front is all set to give the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party a run for their money in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (CMC) polls.

Sources said a meeting is going to be held at Cheema Bhawan Sector 30 on Friday for the Common Minimum Programme of the front and selection of the candidates.

The leaders of CPI, CPI (M), Chandigarh Akali Dal, Chandigarh Janmanch, RJD and SP will participate the meeting. Following which, a declaration on the formation of Third Front would be formally made in a press conference.

The front will field its candidates for 26 wards against the Congress and the BJP. Its election manifesto will feature a transparent and corruption free administration.

It will also bust the scams reported during the Congress government and the BJP’s alleged involvement in the corporation scam.
Avoiding the personnel criticism, the front will field competent and honest candidates in the local body polls.

Sources said the seat sharing arrangements have been finalized for 22 seats. The remaining four seats will be decided later as four ticket seekers from the Congress and the BJP are likely to join the front.
