A class XII student, Pooja’s unique initiative has become a strong binding factor between Hindus and Muslims. In an interview with news agency ANI, she said, "I want to teach my students that there is no distinction between Hindus and Muslims and all differences are manmade".

Her neighbours and parents are fully supporting her endeavour to create an atmosphere of mutual trust, respect, and love. At an age when most of students start understanding society, Pooja is teaching 35 Muslim kids.

Pooja said she is inspired by her teacher Sangeeta Begum, who was born to a Muslim father and Hindu mother. "My teacher (Sangeeta) taught me an important tenet of Islam, that there is no point in gaining knowledge if you don't share it", Pooja said.
