One such hero is a devotee of Lord Hanuman, who has been observing ‘roza’, the fasting ritual of Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan, for last 29 years.

Meet Lalbabu, a shopkeeper at Urdu Bazar, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh who observes roza for the first 10 days of Ramadan. Lalbabu started this practice 29 years back. His father Ganga Prasad once promised to observe a roza if almighty granted him with his own shop. His wish was fulfilled and he fasted during Ramadan throughout his life.

Similarly, Lalbabu wished having a child and one day, during Ramadan he asked God to bless him with a child with a promise to fast on the first 10 days of the month if his wish was fulfilled. He was blessed with a child and he is keeping his promise by observing roza during the first 10 days of Ramadan.

When asked whether his ‘roza practice’ will not upset Lord Hanumana, he said, “No, in fact, I donate more on every Tuesday in the month of Ramadan. The Ramadan is not just for keeping fast but to help others. My business has been thriving for last 29 years”.

Lalbabu believes that all religions, with varied ways of worship, lead to the same eternal power.
