In an uncanny reminder of the propaganda about Ajmal Kasab, the Pakistani terrorist caught alive after butchering innocent civilians in Mumbai on 26/11, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister has toed the lines of public prosecutor (TADA) Ujjwal Nikam who, in his candid admission, accepted that the rumour about ‘Biryani’ being served to Kasab was his idea to create even a greater dislike for the LeT operative.

Following the alleged encounter of 8 SIMI men on Tuesday, captured on unverified videos and questioned by the opposition in one voice, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan responded, and declared in his public address on Tuesday, "Those being tried for terror take years to get punished. For years, they are fed chicken biryani in jail. Then they escape and indulge in more crimes and attacks...we need fast-track courts for terror cases too."

Chouhan and his ministers have forcefully defended the entire operation and lauded the policemen while the encounter is being challenged by National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and is seeking an explanation from the state government and state police.

Chouhan has visited the prison on Wednesday to review security arrangements.

Meanwhile, Kusum Mehdale, the minister in charge of jails, Madhya Pradesh, has admitted that the jailbreak may have been an inside job.
