Noida: The Gautam Budh Nagar court pronounced life imprisonment for three people involved in the kidnapping of IT company Adobe’s senior Managing Director’s son Anant. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 on each of them.

Citing a pervious Supreme Court verdict, the court noted that kidnapping has become a lucrative and thriving industry and should be dealt with iron hand.

Anant, son of Adobe’s MD Naresh Gupta, was kidnapped from nearby areas of his residence in Noida, sector 15A on November 13, 2006.

The three convicted are Chhatrapal, Pawan and Jitender and the proceedings commenced in the court under Special Judge NK Srivastava.

Chhatrapal’s counsel Hari Raj Singh appealed for easing the sentence awarded to him. Similarly, Advocate Jabar Singh demanded lowering of the quantum of sentence for Jitender as he holds the responsibility of his 5-year-old child.

However, KK Singh, Public Prosecutor, appealed for maximum punishment for the accused.

After a break, the court pronounced life sentence for them in its 47-page order. Meanwhile, Jabar Singh and Jitender Bhaati said they will further move the High Court.

Meanwhile, the relatives of Anant expressed their happiness over the court’s verdict.
