The Railway Minister also announced an assistance Rs 50,000 for those who were seriously injured and Rs 20,000 for those who sustained minor injury in the accident. Three persons were killed in the incident, Railways spokesperson Anil Saxena said in New Delhi. He, however, pegged the number of those injured at four.

Meanwhile, IG (Law and Order) A Satish Ganesh in Lucknow cited the dead included a woman. "Nine injured in the incident have been rushed to a hospital, where condition of three was stated to be critical."

The woman killed in the incident has been identified as Sita (40) from Hatiya in Bihar, SP Railways, Allahabad, R K Bharadwaj informed. S-3 bogey the woman was travelling in overturned. 20 ambulances from Allahabad and Fatehpur have been deployed for rescue operations, he added.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakhs for the deceased and directed Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan to make available all necessary help to the victims.
