Amritsar: Three Pakistani smugglers were allegedly shot dead by the BSF during an encounter at the Indo-Pak border near Amarkot village here, officials said here.

The gunfight broke out between the smugglers and the BSF patrolling party of 45 battalion when the former tried to enter into the Indian side on Sunday night.

When asked to surrender, the Pakistani smugglers fired gun shots at the BSF jawans, who retaliated.

In the encounter which took place at the Dharma post, the three smugglers were killed, they said.

The BSF also seized 22 kg of heroin worth Rs 110 crore in the international market, a .12 bore country-made gun, 10 live cartridges, two mobile phones and Rs 200 of Pakistani currency.
