Karimnagar: Three people including a one-year old girl were killed in a road accident at Chengerla village, 15 kms from here in Monday night  while they were on their way to have a holy darshan of Lord Raja Rajeshwar Swamy at Vermulwada.

Speaking about the incident Manakondur Sub Inspector B Ramesh said the mishap occured when an auto rickshaw carrying 12 persons belonging to two familieswas hit by a lorry coming from the opposite direction.

The deceased have been identified as driver Sripathi Hanmanthu of Lingapur village, Parkala Prabhakar of Huzurabad including one year old girl Burra Shruthi. While two persons died on the spot, the girl succumbed to her injuries at a private hospital in Karimnagar.
 The injured were later on shifted to Karimnagar Government hospital.
The lorry driver escaped from the scene after the accident, police said adding investigations were already on.
