Dharmshala: Demanding the release of their religious head Panchen Lama, who was taken into custody by China 16 years ago, over hundred Tibetan monks have embarked on a peaceful march from McLeod Ganj to New Delhi.

According to reports, this march aims at staging a peaceful protest against the ongoing oppression of the people of Kirtinagar Monestry at Ngba.

The protesters also sought the release of arrested Tibetan leaders and  demanded the free movement of people along with their right to expression.

Before the march, hundred of monks took part in a mass prayer which was led by Dalai Lama at the main Tibetan temple (TsuglagKhang).

Tibetan Prime Minister-in-exile Samdhong Rinpoche flagged off the march.
