Chennai: With about 14,000 workers of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) on an indefiinte strike, Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday said it will take up with the Centre to put an end to the stalemate by holding talks.
 
"Tamil Nadu government will take efforts to end the strike by urging Centre (Labour department) to settle the issue through talks," Labour Welfare Minister ST Chellapandian said.
 
He was replying to a special motion by the Left parties who drew attention to the indefinite strike by the workers even as it entered the 18th day on Tuesday.
  
About 14,000 contract workers at NLC are on indefinite strike from April 21, demanding regularisation of services in a phased manner and implementation of 'equal pay for equal work' formula, among other things.
