Participating in a protest organized by the VHP and Bajrang Dal over a house bought by a Muslim businessman in Bhavnagar area of Rajkot on Saturday evening, Togadia, according to a report filed by a leading English daily, allegedly provoked the mob to pelt stones at the house.

The VHP president, who has a previous track record of making inflammatory hate speeches against Muslims, also gave a 48-hour deadline to the house owner to vacate it.

Several saffron groups had been putting in efforts to spoil the deal but Togadia took it to another level with his hate speech, which can potentially damage the communal harmony in the area.

“If he does not relent, go with stones, tyres and tomatoes to his office. There is nothing wrong in it. Killers of Rajiv Gandhi have not been hanged ... there is nothing to fear and the case will go on,” he told the mob.

Togadia also bragged that houses of Muslims in the area have been attacked in the past.

"Muslims have lost both property and money,” he said.

The local police positioned several personnel outside the house to prevent any further untoward incident.

Togadia has a history of making hate speeches as he had made a similar speech in February last year against the Muslim community, particularly targeting Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader Akbaruddin Owaisi.
