The nation has witnessed even worse incidents that took a toll over people's lives and property. Here, we list out five of those dreadful fire incidents that once gripped the nation.

Dabwali (Haryana): Around 400 people died and 160 injured on December 23, 1995, when a synthetic 'pandal' in Dabwali caught fire. The injured people comprised mostly children as it was a school event.



Kolkata (West Bengal): On December 9, 2011, a fire occurred at AMRI hospital in Dhakuria, which took lives of around 95 people including the hospital staff.



Kumbakonam (Tamil Nadu): Ninety four children succumbed to injuries when a thatched roof of a primary school in Kumbakonam caught fire on July 16, 2004.



Meerut (Uttar Pradesh): A tent of a consumer trade fair in Meerut caught fire on April 10, 2006, taking lives of over 100 people and injuring over 150 people.



Patna (Bihar): One of the worst rail incidents took place when a shuttle train in Patna gutted fire on April 16, 1990, killing around 70 people.
