Patna: Bihar government will put in place infrastructure at various tourist places in the state to boost its overall economy, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said on Sunday. Bihar may have lost minerals and natural resources post-bifurcation, but it was blessed with rich cultural heritage and centres of ancient civilization, he said at a function after rolling out airconditioned luxury buses to various tourist destinations in the state.

Bihar government has plants to construct infrastructure, like road, transportation and hospitality at its famous places of religious tourism to generate employment for the local people and boost overall economy, Modi said.

The people from the country and the world have shown interest to visit sacred places of their religions in Bihar and for that necessary infrastructure will be put in place to tap the religious tourists, he said.

It has been due to the state government's efforts to improve law and order situation and tourism infrastructure that there have been significant increase in the inflow of the tourists, both domestic and foreigners, Modi said.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the state government will also give various incentives to the transport operators interested in rolling out luxury buses for the tourists on Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) mode.
