Srinagar: After remaining in lurch for long, former BJP legislator, Lt General (retd) TPS Rawat finally bid adieu to the saffron party. He made a formal announcement in this regard at the ceremony of the Uttarakhand Raksha Morcha.

Along with Rawat, former office bearers of state government and many leaders from Congress and BJP announced to join the Morcha.

As a Congress candidate, Rawat won the assembly election from the Dhumakot seat in 2002. And in 2007, he was re-elected from the seat.

However, he resigned from the Congress to join the BJP but lost the Lok Sabha election in 2009.
Rawat has often alleged the BJP of avoiding him. On Saturday, he flayed the state government on various issues.

He said, “By talking to the Uttarakhan Kranti Dal and other organizations, we would make attempts to strengthen the Uttarakhand Raksha Morcha which has always raised its voice against the prevailing corruption in the state.”

In order to motivate the people to join the Morcha, meetings would be initiated in Haldwani, Tiwari, Almora.
