Traders, part of the organization Zila Udhyog Vyapar Mandal (ZUVM), handed over a memorandum, addressed to the Prime Minister and Finance Minister, to the city magistrate at the collectorate.
"Promoting online-trading is just equivalent to inviting FDI surreptitiously in India," ZUVM General Secretary Shiv Shankar Rathi said.
The Centre has given its nod to online trading 'under duress' of some business giants due to which the retail trading is on the verge of being ruined, Rathi alleged.
Several online marketing companies are 'luring' customers by announcing lower prices for various consumer goods, he said, adding, imposing restrictions on traders from getting loans will also jeopardize their businesses.
City-based traders dealing in computers, electronics, electrical goods, mobile phones, and ready made garments took part in the protest.
City Magistrate Kapil Singh said the memorandum will be forwarded to the secretariats of ministries concerned in due course of time.
