New Delhi:  In a bid to checkmate crime on roads and streamline vehicular movements, the traffic police have cracked whip against those who use tinted film and fancy number plates in their vehicles in national capital.

On the first day, as many as 245 vehicle owners were issued chalan for using the tinted glasses. Registration Certificate (RC) and driving licenses of the car owners were seized when they opposed removing the black films from their cars.

Joint Commissioner of the traffic police, Satyendra Garg, said, “The campaign was carried out in many parts of Delhi on Thursday. Many people removed the films on the spot. While those who refrained from complying with the directions of the cops were granted three-day timeframe under section 22 of the Rules of Road Regulation Act.”

If a person is found with tinted glass which is beyond the permissible limit as per traffic rules, strict action will be taken against him. The driver will have to remove the film on the spot, failing which they will be slapped with legal notices.
