No injuries were reported in the mishap, which occurred near Padav Pul at some distance from the Gwalior railway station on Thursday evening, they said.
The engine of Jhelum Express was changed after it reported some technical snag at Gwalior station, according to Railway PRO Ravi Prakash. A wheel of the engine derailed during shifting after detachment from rest of the bogies, he said.
Because of the derailment, the traffic movement on the track was disrupted for about two hours. The train later continued its onward journey after another engine was attached to it.
