Chandigarh: Trinamool Congress in Haryana on Thursday accused the Congress government in the state of failing to fulfil its promise generating surplus electricity saying this has "dragged the state towards the power crisis".

In a press statement issued here, TMC’s Haryana convener Anil Saini demanded Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda should immediately resign for "not safeguarding the interest of people who have come out on the roads agitating against the pathetic power supply in the state".

"The people of Haryana had elected Bhupinder Singh Hooda to power on his assurance to provide 22-hour power supply in the state and a surplus power generation in 2012 but his government had failed to fulfill basic requirements and today there is no electricity for any section of society including farmers, industrialists and general public", he added.
