Buxar (Bihar): Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar would undertake a visit to his native Bhelupur village under Itarhi block in Bihar's Buxar district on January 11, 2012.

Ancestors of Persad-Bissessar were believed to have migrated to Trinidad and Tobago, then a British colony in the Caribbean islands, as Girmitiya labourers from Bhelupur village in the 19th century.

Buxar Sub-Divisional Office Nishith Verma said during her visit Persad-Bissessar will meet her relatives. Hari Shankar Tiwari of the village is said to be one of her relatives.

"The district administration has made all the preparations for the visit. We visited Bhelupur on Wednesday to take stock of the road condition in the village and supervise the work on a helipad for landing of Persad-Bissessar's chopper here," Verma said.

Meanwhile, the people of Bhelpur are happy and excited over the proposed visit of a VVIP from the village.

Persad-Bissessar, the first woman Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, was sworn in on May 26, 2010.
