Los Angeles: Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan was released from jail four hours after she checked into a California facility to begin her 30-day prison sentence.

The 25-year-old was released early due to over-crowding in jail. She was sentenced after admitting that she violated her probation by not keeping up with court-ordered community service requirements, reported a portral.

The 'Mean Girls' star was given a week to turn herself in so she could fulfil a contract to pose nude for Playboy magazine.

The troubled star's probation violation came because she failed to regularly appear for her scheduled visits at the Downtown Women's Center in Los Angeles, part of her sentence for pleading no contest in May to stealing a USD 2500 necklace from a Los Angeles boutique.

Judge Stephanie Sautner had earlier said that Lohan would not be eligible for house arrest or early release and ordered her to perform her remaining 400-plus hours of community service at the county morgue.
