New Delhi: Expressing his displeasure over the all-party meet called by Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde to discuss the issue of separate statehood for Telangana, TRS Chief K Chandrashekhar Rao has called for bandh in the region on Saturday.

“This was a hopeless, futile meet. This was all a drama”, Roa told reporters after the meeting.

"We have been handed so many promises; this one is no different," Rao added.

Unhappy with the outcome of the meeting, Rao called for a bandh in the region on Saturday in order to press for their demand of separate Telangana state.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde assured the political parties that the Centre would take a decision on separate statehood of Telangana within a month and urged students campaigning for Telangana statehood to maintain calm.

Several political leaders cutting across the party lines have been demanding separate Telangana state for long.

So far, 33 Congress, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Praja Rajyam Party and Independent lawmakers hailing from the Telangana region have resigned from the Parliament as well as the Andhra Pradesh state assembly.
