Indore: In a shocking revelation, hundreds of trucks stolen from Madhya Pradesh are plying on the country’s roads after getting a new makeover. The issue came into light in February, when a racket which had an expertise on allotting fake vehicle numbers and providing a makeover to the stolen trucks, was busted.

The information passed on by the arrested persons confirmed the involvement of few Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials in the racket. Indore Police in February raided a factory in Sanwer where the makeover of these stolen trucks was under process.

While probing into the matter, Indore Crime Branch arrested Jullu Khan for driving a stolen truck. During the police interrogation, Khan revealed that Babloo sold the truck to him.

Babloo, in the interrogation divulged the details of a bigger gang, which had been on the loose and worked with the help of an RTO official posted at Dhar. The official provided them with fake documents and numbers of Nagaland.

He also revealed that in order to resell the stolen trucks, the gang used to change their body, and allot forged vehicle numbers of Assam, Nagaland or Karnataka.

“The stealing was mainly conducted in the regions like Devas Dhani Ghati, Tonk Khurd, Dodi region and Sehore,” he said.
Apprehending a much bigger racket, the Crime Branch is probing the matter further.
