New Delhi: Turkey which is planning to augment its power generation capacity substantially has sought help from India in setting up thermal power plants in the country.

Turkey has decided to set up 15,000 MW coal-based Power Plant.

Turkey put forward the request before Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal who is leading an Indian delegation at the World Mining Congress in Istanbul.

Jaiswal met Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz on Tuesday on the sidelines of the meet.
They discussed the energy situation in both the nations, in particular in the area of coal mining.

Jaiswal also offered to provide technical assistance to develop coal mining and clean coal technologies in Turkey.
Turkey also invited Indian firms to participate in setting up the proposed thermal plant.
