New Delhi:Noted television actress Shweta Tiwari will lend a push to the digitisation of Indian cable television by advocating the move even as the four metros near the October 31 date to switch over to complete TV digitisation, an official said.

"Shweta Tiwari will speak on the benefits of digitisation," an information and broadcasting ministry official told, adding that the blurb will appear on all Doordarshan and other channels.

"As of today, 78 percent of the cable television in the four metros of Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai has been digitized," the official said.

The government is to go ahead with its complete switch over to cable TV digitization from the analog system on Nov 1 as planned, irrespective of some state governments appealing for some time, another official told.

The West Bengal government has urged for more time to complete the move."We will go ahead with our digitization date," an official told.The government has set an Oct 31 deadline for completing digitisation of cable TV in the four metros and December 2014 for the rest of the country.
