Bahraich: Two persons, including a woman, were charred to death after their crop caught fire due to snapping of a high tension line in Dargah Shareef area here, police said on Friday.
Mehrunnisa (55) and Rajesh (25) were working in their fields when their crops caught fire after an overhead high-tension wire snapped in Ganagnchak village late Friday evening, they said.
Police said that both were charred to death in a bid to save their crops. Agitated with the incident, local villagers kept the bodies on the road and blocked it. The road was cleared after the administration assured Rs one lakh ex-gratia to the kin of the victims and action against guilty power department staff.
