Patna: Two FIRs have been lodged against JD(U) leader and former party MLA Munna Shukla in two separate cases in Bihar's Vaishali and Muzaffarpur districts, officials said on Sunday.

An FIR has been lodged at Bhagwanpur police station in Vaishali district by the proprietor of an engineering college, Santlal Yadav, who has alleged that Shukla demanded Rs two crore to raise funds for JD(U)'s 'Adhikar rally' in Patna next week, Superintendent of Police (SP) Upendra Kumar Sinha said.

Yadav, who is the Director of Pataliputra Engineering College, has alleged that Shukla, presently lodged in Muzaffarpur central jail, called him on mobile phone on October 26. The former MLA demanded Rs two crore and threatened him with dire consequences if this demand was not met, Sinha said.

An investigation was going on in the matter, the Vaishali SP said.

A day earlier, Muzaffarpur central prison's jailer Dilip Mitra lodged an FIR at Mithanpura police station against Shukla in connection with recovery of a mobile phone and a charger from the latter's cell.

Muzaffarpur Range DIG Shushil Khopre said investigation was going on in both cases lodged against Shukla.

Meanwhile, the state JD(U) has sought to distance itself from Shukla saying that the law will take its course against him if he has committed any crime.
