Islamabad: An unidentified gunman shot and killed two foreigners, including a woman, in Peshawar city of northwest Pakistan on Tuesday, according to media reports.

The two persons were taken to Lady Reading Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries, officials told TV news channels.

They were attacked in the busy Jehangir Pura area of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

There was no confirmation of the name and nationality of the slain foreigners.

Local residents said the two slain foreigners appeared to be tourists.

The motive behind the attack was not clear and police said they were investigating the incident.

The gunman escaped after the attack. No group claimed responsibility for the incident.
