New Delhi: Two General Managers of Air India have been suspended for negligence in performing their duties. GM, Training has been suspended for irregularities in the records whereas GM, Operations has been found guilty of failing in making arrangements for pilots.

The training in charge of Air India, R S Dhillon is accused of making irregularities in the simulator training records. He has been charged for adopting wrong approach during the simulator training of Jet Airways A-330.  On directions from the Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh, the Vigilance Department conducted probe into the matter and found the manager guilty of the charges. Later, the GM Training was suspended from the duties.

The suspension of Captain Dhillon has affected the other GM Captain H Y Samant as well. Captain H Y Samant has been charged for not covering up for the mishap done by Captain Dhillon. Actually, Captain Dhillon was scheduled to fly A-330 from Mumbai to Singapore on January 1. But, he was suspended on December 31. Hence, he was not available for the flight. Captain Dhillon had already apprised Captain Samant of his non-availability in advance.

Captain Samant failed to arrange pilot which resulted in cancellation of the flight. 220 passengers were scheduled to travel in the flight. On instructions from Ajit Singh, Captain Samant has been discharged from the duties. The Civil Aviation Department has ordered detailed probe into the matter and to take action against the guilty.
