Ram Chander and Sandeep were arrested yesterday night for stealing the gold-coated dagger, which was recovered from them. The dagger was reported missing on Monday from the museum.

"We have arrested two sanitation workers of the Nehru Memorial Museum for stealing the dagger gifted to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru", Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav.

The officer said the accused were arrested after over 60 people were questioned. Sources in the museum said the dagger was put in a glass in frame in the gift gallery, which is a few steps from the bedroom where Nehru breathed his last on May 27, 1964.

After the Nehru's death, his house was turned into a museum which is situated on Teen Murti Marg in the posh Lutyen's zone.
