Indore: Two persons were injured in a clash involving two groups, allegedly over an old dispute at Khandwa town near here, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Peethampur industrial area in Khandwa district last night, they said, adding four persons have been arrested following a counter complaint lodged with local police, Additional SP (Rural) Padam Vilochan Shukla said.

Police suspect that the incident might have been a fallout of a simmering dispute between the groups of private vehicle drivers over a road accident in the past.

The incident took place when a group of drivers of a construction company confronted one Mahesh from Kanjoria village when he was on his way to Khandwa village, police said.

The mob armed with lathis beat up another driver, who is yet to be identified, and his associates when they tried to intervene.

Police said that some miscreants even opened fire in air, Shukla said.

Police seized two dumper trucks laden with "gitti" (gravel), he said.

The trigger behind the incident is being ascertained, he added.
