Jaipur: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday arrested two military engineering service officials for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively at Sri Ganganagar.

Both officers were working at the Command Works Engineer there, CBI sources said.

Acting on the basis of a complainant filed by a military engineering service contractor Mukhpal Singh, the probing agency laid a trap in which Commander R K Bansal was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.

“The army officer had asked the contractor to pay the bribe money at the highway near Abohar in Sriganganagar. While he was accepting the bribe, we caught him,” said a CBI official.
Garrison Engineer Anindya Roy was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 at his office in Srigananagar.

The CBI further carried raids at premises of Bansal. Sources said Rs 55 lakh in cash and jewelleries in huge quantity were recovered from the Commander’s house.
