Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir has started two new water supply schemes with daily capacity of 1,80,000 gallons in north Kashmir's Kupwara district which will benefit over 40,000 residents of this remote area.

Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Nasir Aslam Wani inaugurated the schemes at Lolab and Bungam-Hihama on Sunday, an official spokesman said.

A cost of Rs 4.75 crores has been incurred on them, he said, adding that they will benefit 41,000 people of the area daily.
