Kolkata: Two poachers were killed in separate incidents of heavy cross-firing between Border Security Force (BSF) and animal poacher gangs on Bangladesh border. Meanwhile, a BSF jawan was also injured during the encounter.

According to reports, a gang of 50-60 poachers had attacked the BSF jawans deployed at Malda and Cooch-Behar while patrolling the border on Thursday and Friday night. The poachers were furious over the BSF vigil to check poaching of animals along the Indo-Bangla border. As a counter attack, the BSF killed two Bangladeshi poachers.

In another incident in the Cooch-Behar region, 30-40 poachers had gathered to cross the Indo-Bangla border. When the patrolling jawans asked them to surrender, they started throwing stones on them. As a result, a BSF jawan was injured in the incident and was later admitted to a local hospital.

In a third incident along the border in Berhampur, one of the poachers was killed in an internal feud. The BSF recovered the body of the deceased with the help of the police which looking into the matter.
