"The festival is aimed at giving huge impetus to Indian culture and its global following. The basic purpose is to attract international tourist. Once he visits the area, it would become difficult for him to skip from this land," BJP MP Hema Malini, convenor of Sri Krishna Mahotsava, 2015  said.
The programme, slated for April 25 and 26, would be dedicated to farmers and the funds collected from it will be utilised in providing help to those who have suffered a lot in recent untimely rain and hailstorm, Hema Malini said.
The initiative celebrates Lord Krishna's birth place, re-affirming its mythological and cultural significance and will work at attracting attention from all over the world, she said.
It is also aimed to increase international and domestic tourism inflow into Mathura, the Mathura MP said. The festival will also be telecast on a private general entertainment channel on May 17.
The 'mahotsava' will begin with a 'pooja' in the morning and it will be open to the VIPs and special guests during the day.The festival will also celebrate the 'Baal Leela' (childhood years) of Lord Krishna .
Besides Hema Malini, celebrities like Esha Deol, Shraddha Kapoor, Udit Narayan, Parineeti Chopra, Arjun Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Govinda, Shankar Mahadevan, Chandni – Indian Princess, Prince Dance Group, Mayur Dance, Awasthi, Madhushala, will be seen at the festival.
Around 10,000-15,000 people will witness the 'mahotsava' this year and next year it would be organised for over 50,000 audience, she said.
