Chandigarh: A two-day Vegetable Expo is being organised by Haryana Horticulture Mission at the Centre of Excellence for Vegetables in Gharaunda, Karnal from February 18.
The main objective of this expo, which is being held in collaboration with Union Ministry of Agriculture and National Horticulture Board, is to encourage the vegetable cultivation in the State, an official spokesman said on Thursday.
He said that the Vegetable Expo would include demonstration of hybrid cultivation technologies under poly house and open field condition over an area of 15 acres.
Apart from this, display and competition of vegetable produce in five categories and more than 20 vegetable crops would also be organised.
He said during the expo, an exhibition on protected structures, micro-irrigation systems, vegetable seeds, horticulture farm machinery and implements, fertilizers and bio manure would also be held.
The Centre of Excellence for Vegetables was established at Gharaunda under National Horticulture Mission and was inaugurated on January 17, 2011.
The first Vegetable Expo was organised from January 17-19 last year and saw participation of over 8,000 farmers, he added.
