Panaji: Around 105 passengers on board an Air India flight from Kuwait had a close shave when the front nose wheel tyres of the Airbus 320 aircraft burst while landing at the Goa airport on Tuesday morning.

Airport sources said the incident happened at 7.53 AM when the flight, AI 937 from Kuwait, was landing at the Goa airport before going further to Chennai.

"As the flight landed and headed towards the end point of the runway, both the front nose wheel tyres burst. The pilot immediately took the aircraft to a nearby taxiway," sources said, adding that none of the passengers were hurt and no damage to the aircraft was reported.

The main runway was not blocked as the aircraft was already taken to a taxiway, airport officials said.

"Fortunately, there were no rains in the morning, which saved the aircraft from skidding after the incident," they added.

Out of the 105 passengers, 68 were heading to Chennai, while 60 more passengers were supposed to board the flight at Goa.

Officials said Air India is making alternate arrangements to take the passengers to Chennai.
