New Delhi: In the recent years, ragging has emerged as major woe for new entrants of colleges acroos the country. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has now invited applications from NGOs that are involved in the field of monitoring activities in the social sector on a pan-India level, to take up the role of watchdog to restrain ragging in educational institutions.

The selected NGOs will be entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring and reporting to UGC whether the educational institutions have taken any action on the complaints filed about ragging through the helpline numbers.  

After launching a countrywide 24x7 toll free anti-ragging helpline number- 18001805522-  UGC has planned to involve NGOs across the country for effective monitoring of anti-ragging activities.
