Jalandhar: The UGC aspirants had to face trouble in the submission of online admission forms when University Grants Commission (UGC) server developed technical glitches. Considering the technical fault, the UGC has extended the last date for submission of online application till May 4.

Thousands of students, who applied for the UGC-NET exams, deposited the examination fees online but could not take fee receipt owing to the technical default in the server. The helpline numbers did not function properly.   There was no response despite several efforts to contact the UGC center via helpline numbers and e-mails.

UGC applicants Harpreet Singh, Sajan Malhotra, Sugnadha, Neerja complained that they have deposited Rs 450 each as form fees at State Bank of India, but due to technical snag in UGC website, forms cannot be downloaded for last seven days.

Rachana, a resident of Central Town and a teacher by profession informed that she has been constantly trying to access the site from 3 am in the morning.

On the other hand, sources in UGC said that the department has not improved its server for the last two years which has lead to problem. It needs to be mentioned that the UGC exams will take place on June 24.
