Lucknow: Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Central University administration is highly enthused about the proposed media centre of the University. The vision of quality education along with the making of short films will be fulfilled with its opening. Actually the University Grants Commission (UGC) gave its nod for opening up of the new media centre last year, but the infrastructure of the proposed centre inside the University premises is yet to be inspected by the UGC officials. UGC’s five-member team is scheduled to visit Lucknow on Monday for this purpose.

With the opening up of the media centre, University will embark on producing the short films which will be telecast on Doordarshan and other TV channels.

Govind Pandey, department head of Journalism and Mass Communication, said, “After the centre gets opened here, it will be the 19th centre of this kind in the country. UGC will provide the University an additional grant of Rs. 1,00,000,00 along with the budget for the construction of centre.”

BB Malik, the spokesperson of the University, said that the UGC team was coming on Monday on two-day visit. The way to the opening of the media centre would be cleared after getting the team’s green signal. Students will learn the techniques of film making at the media centre.
