New Delhi: University Grants Commission has decided to promote those universities which teaching and research programmes are innovative and match with today’s necessities in various fields.
UGC has invited proposals from various universities to introduce a scheme called "Innovation Universities". This scheme is totally competitive and is on the first come first serve basis.
Only those universities, which proposals would be the best, would get the schemes, UGC source said.
UGC would provide financial aid to the universities to develop their innovative teaching and research programmes to enable them in any field.
The duration of programme will be of five years during which UGC will give financial aid to the universities. This programme can be started at Graduate and Post-Graduate level provided that it is innovative.
