Bhopal: Amid Anna Hazare’s strong demands of bringing group-C and D officials into the Lokpal ambit, a shocking incident of malpractices by a group D employee in Ujjain, who amassed wealth worth Rs 10 crore, has come to light.

The Ujjain Lokayukta Police on Wednesday raided the premises of group-D official and claimed to have unearthed unknown property worth Rs 10 crore.

Acting on a tip off, the Lokayukta Police raided the Goverdhan Nagar residence of Narendra Deshmukh who works as a store keeper in Ujjain Municipal Corporation and exposed assets worth Rs 10 crore.

The police also discovered dozens of bank accounts in the name of Deshmukh with several banks. Around Rs 13 lakh cash had been deposited in these accounts.  Moreover, he also owns a bungalow in Indira Nagar. Sources said jewellery worth Rs 1.5 lakh, 1.5 lakh cash and three luxury cars and four two-wheelers were also seized during the raid.

Among the other sources constituting his property includes, 18 acres land along Indore road, five acres land in Maharashtra, a hotel in Mumbai on partnership basis, a chicken shop in Ujjain, said the sources.
