“I want to ask Sonia Gandhi what is her qualification because she was heading the UPA Government, she was giving directions to the Government. I want to see her certificate how much she is qualified. Then Congress people have the right to ask the qualifications of Smriti Irani,” she asked.

Omar supports HRD Minister Smriti Irani

Earlier on Tuesday, Congress leader Ajay Maken had questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to allocate the portfolio of HRD Ministry to Smriti Irani saying, “What a Cabinet of Modi? HRD Minister (Looking after Education) Smriti Irani is not even a graduate! Look at her affidavit at ECI site page 11.”

In her affidavit filed before the Election Commission, Irani has stated her last education as Bachelor of Commerce Part-1, School of Open Learning (Correspondence), University of Delhi-1994.

Bharti, who formally took charge as Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, said that she was extremely delighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given her a new responsibility.

“I am extremely happy that I have been trusted with the Ganga project……….,” she said.

Speaking on the occasion at the Shram Shakti Bhawan here in New Delhi she said the Government will work out a policy initiative for the rejuvenation of river Ganga as well as the cleaning of other important rivers in the country.

The Minister said Ganga has been known for its religious importance and many civilizations have flourished on its banks. She said efforts will be made to make it clean as pious as it was in the past. with the theme” Aviral Ganga Nirmal Ganga”

Earlier, the minister was received by Shri Alok Rawat., Secretary Water Resources along with senior officers in the Ministry.
