Haridwar: BJP’s firebrand leader Uma Bharti has urged all political parties to come forward in extending help to Swami Gyan Swaroop Sanand, who is on an indefinite fast in Haridwar over the poor condition of the River Ganga.

However Uma on Thursday said that the issue of River Ganga is not political and therefore it did not feature during the poll campaigns.

“River Ganga is not a political issue hence we have not raised the matter during the elections. The issue should not be politicised. We want all political outfits to come ahead and work together for the cause,” she said.

She was quick to add, “I am also worried about the health of the River and therefore we are with Swami Sanand in his endeavour.”

Uma Bharti on Thursday visited the protest site Matri Sadan in Haridwar and discussed the highlights and the steps to be taken to save the River.
