Asked about Singh's remark describing party MP Meenakshi Natarajan as ‘100 percent tunch maal’ at a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh, Verma said, "I do not favour use of undignified language in public life."

On BJP leader LK Advani's statement that his party would do well in Lok Sabha elections, the minister said BJP leaders "change their tune" with time. "The BJP would lose by record votes," Verma said.

In past, Beni Verma himself had drawn flak by making controversial remarks. The Congress leader had triggered a controversy by stating that Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had links with terrorists and Yadav was corrupt and a 'dacoit'.

Verma had also made some derogatory remarks regarding SP chief’s prospects for the PM post.
