The move will see the company deploying over 1,000 additional network sites within the next five months. It will also add a population of over 70 lakh to its coverage, the company said in a release.

The expansion comes at a time when Uninor has achieved profitability in under four years of launching operations in the key circle, the company said.

The new network will take the company's coverage to an additional 200 towns and villages across the circle as well as strengthen the existing structure, it said.

At the end of this phase of expansion, Uninor will have over 4,490 network sites, 70,000 point of sale outlets, 300 express stores, 1,000 RSEs (retail sale executives) and about 315 distributors in Maharashtra & Goa Circle.

Together, this distribution network will cater to over 10 million existing and potential subscribers, it said.

Uninor offers GSM services in six circles - UP (West), UP (East), Bihar (including Jharkhand), Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra & Goa and Gujarat, serving over 32 million customers.
